My Journey from Employee Engagement to Impactful Volunteerism

“Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless.” — Sherry Anderson
Volunteering has been a part of my life since childhood, from participating in Ganesh festivals and society functions to school and college activities. However, it was only in recent years that I truly realized the importance of giving back to society and the environment, and the need to take care of our mother earth.
My renewed journey into volunteering began with participating in CSR activities at Amdocs, where I have been working for over 16 years. These experiences helped me understand the true impact of volunteerism and ignited a passion in me to contribute more meaningfully.
I have actively participated in several initiatives, including tree plantation, tree nurturing, and de- weeding, wall painting, watershed campaigns, the Blossom Marathon, shoes distribution, Victory Fest, school kit drives, Joy of Giving, and the Green Community initiative. It’s not just about the immediate results but about fostering a culture of giving and responsibility.
During the tree plantation drive at AnandVan, I remember the heartfelt appeal from Kumar Uncle and the bright smile on the volunteers’ faces as they helped us plant saplings. Their enthusiasm was infectious, reminding me of the simple joys of giving back. The vibrant colors of the wall painting at AnandVan brought the space to life, transforming a dull wall into a canvas of hope and inspiration.
Reflecting on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities to give back. The joy of giving and seeing the positive changes in the community is unparalleled.
Volunteering has not only been a way to give back but also a journey of personal growth. Through various activities, I have developed skills such as leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Organizing events and coordinating with different teams have enhanced my project management abilities. Moreover, interacting with diverse groups of people has improved my communication skills and cultural awareness.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my volunteering journey has been involving my family. Seeing my family members participate in activities like tree planting and community drives has been incredibly fulfilling. Watching my children learn the values of compassion and community service has been a highlight of this journey. Their excitement and dedication to making a difference have inspired me even more.
I am proud to be part of Amdocs, which partners with organizations like Seva Sahayog to amplify our impact and reach more communities in need. I urge everyone to find a cause they are passionate about and take the first step towards making a difference. Together, we can create a more sustainable and compassionate world.
