Giving Back to Society: A Journey of Purpose and Impact

December 19, 2024

My name is Ramesh Bindroo, and I’ve been with IDeaS – A SAS company for the past 14 years. For the last 12 years, I’ve had the privilege of being an active member of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) committee, and for the past 5 years, I’ve had the honour of leading it. My passion for giving back to society is deeply personal, rooted in my experiences as a Kashmiri Pandit. In 1989, my family was displaced from our homeland during a time of conflict, forcing us to leave everything behind. Growing up as a migrant within my own country shaped my perspective and instilled in me a strong desire to help others facing their own struggles.

CSR gave me the perfect platform to contribute meaningfully to society while carrying out my professional duties. Over the years, I’ve been involved in several initiatives that hold a special place in my heart.

One such initiative is the bi-annual blood donation drive I organize in partnership with the Deenanath Mangeshkar Blood Bank. To date, we’ve successfully organized 17 camps, donating over 1,000 blood bags. The knowledge that the blood we donate saves lives and helps families in need fills me with a profound sense of accomplishment.

Another initiative close to my heart is the annual School Kit Donation drive, in collaboration with Seva Sahayog. For 9 years, our team at IDeaS has been working together to assemble school kits for children in need. Education is a fundamental right, and I strongly believe that no child should be denied access to it because of their financial situation. This project has allowed me to not only contribute to the education of many children but also forge a lasting partnership with Seva Sahayog.

I also would like to mention about my journey with Snehwan – A Ray of Hope NGO has been equally rewarding. What began with supporting just 30 children from economically challenged farmer families has now grown into a meaningful relationship. Today, Snehwan supports the overall development of over 100 children, and it’s a privilege to spend time with them whenever I can.

These initiatives have not only helped me stay connected to my roots but have also transformed my life. Volunteering and giving back to society provide a sense of fulfilment that cannot be compared to anything else. Every step of this journey has reinforced my belief that the greatest satisfaction comes from making a difference in the lives of others. I feel blessed to be part of a community that values change and growth, and I am proud of the positive impact we continue to make together
